How to choose
Washable filters and filter stages
A washable pre-filter catches large particles before the HEPA filter, and rinsing it keeps the main filter working longer. The YARIKI, WESTHEY, LUNINO and Mirvio each pair a washable pre-filter with an H13 HEPA filter, while the Nuwave uses washable and reusable filters across 7 stages. The YARIKI, WESTHEY and Mirvio makers suggest replacing the main filter every 3-6 months, so check the replacement reminder on the WESTHEY, LUNINO and Mirvio.
Match coverage to your room
Coverage is the room size the maker rates the purifier for. The YARIKI is rated up to 1,500 sq ft, the WESTHEY up to 1,650 sq ft, the Nuwave up to 2,002 sq ft, and the LUNINO and Mirvio up to 3,000 sq ft by their makers. Compare the maker figure with your room size before buying, and remember that CADR is a different figure from square feet.
Modes, timers and noise
Fan speeds set how fast air moves through the filter: the WESTHEY has 3 speeds and the LUNINO has 4. Auto mode adjusts speed on its own from air quality readings on the WESTHEY, LUNINO and Mirvio. Sleep mode drops noise to 15 dB on those three, while the YARIKI is rated at 22 dB and the Nuwave at 21.4 dB. Timers run 2/4/6/8 hours on the WESTHEY, 2/4/8 hours on the LUNINO and 1-12 hours on the Mirvio.
