How to choose
MERV and MPR ratings
MERV rates how well a filter captures particles, and MPR is Filtrete's own rating scale. In this list the ratings run from MERV 8 for the Filter King to MERV 11 for the Filtrete and MERV 12 for the Nordic Pure, while the Filtrete also carries 1000 MPR and the Nordic Pure is equivalent to MPR 1500-1900. Pick the rating that fits your system, since a higher rating is not the right choice for every setup.
Check actual size first
Nominal size and actual size differ on every pick here. The Filtrete measures 15.88 in x 24.56 in x 4.31 in, the Filter King measures 15.5 in x 23.5 in x 3.75 in, and the Nordic Pure measures 15 3/8 in x 23 3/8 in x 3 5/8 in. Measure your old filter and match the actual size, not just the nominal size.
Change intervals and reminders
Change timing differs across this list. The Filtrete is a 12-month filter, while the Filter King lasts up to 90 days. The Filtrete Smart App sets 90-, 180- or 365-day reminders, so you can match the reminder to your change cycle. Set the reminder when you install the filter, and keep a spare from the pack on hand.
